Unsafe and inhumane conditions in New Mexico migrant jail

In a recent report, a federal watchdog disclosed that a rural New Mexico privately owned and operated detention facility that holds migrants near Albuquerque, New Mexico, is inhumane and unsafe for detainees and says it should be immediately closed.

An announced inspection that occurred last February, found appealing conditions inside the facility.

CoreCivic owns and operates the detention facility and disputed the findings found inside the jail in the report.

The facility has faced many disturbances and accidents in the past, which have sparked controversy on what is going on inside the facility and the care of inmates.

CoreCivic claims the evidence found inside the jail is “misrepresenting” and should be reviewed by inspectors.
