Mexico has received a rapid influx of refugee requests in the last couple of months in which has tripled compared to past years.

In December 2021, refugee requests in Mexico increased from 40,000 to approximately 120,000.

Thousands of asylum seekers come from South-American countries in which they flee violence, poverty, and corruption in their homelands.

This rapid influx also exposes asylum seekers to numerous dangers throughout their journeys to the U.S. Southern Border.
