Ciudad Juarez shelters are overseeing a rapid influx of refugees as they are expelled back into Mexico due to the Title 42 public health order.
Thousands of immigrants wait tentatively for the Title 42 order lift occurring this upcoming May. Immigrants are exposed to the violent crime that occurs across border cities such as Tijuana, Nogales, Ciudad Juárez, and Mexican cities located in the valley of Texas.
Approximately 10,000 immigrants from different parts of Mexico and South America currently wait for a chance at U.S. asylum in different shelters throughout Ciudad Juarez.
Families such as the Flores family fled from their native country, El Salvador, due to the ongoing violence. They were expelled back to Mexico as they attempted to cross the U.S. searching for a better life. The Flores family has experienced severe threats of violence in Ciudad Juarez. From gun shootings to threats, the Flores family feels that they haven’t escaped daily violence.
In the meantime, thousands of families are currently waiting for Title 42 to be lifted across the border and a chance at U.S. asylum.
