The Biden administration has announced that it will seek to reduce the backlog of deportation and asylum-seeking cases due to the high influx of migrants crossing the U.S. Border.

Approximately, Immigration and Customs Enforcement lawyers currently have a backlog of 1.7 million cases pending. ICE didn’t announce how many cases will be cleared or how long it will take to overcome the current backlog.

The Biden administration is expecting to see the highest number of undocumented migrants crossing the U.S. border due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) lifting the pandemic-era public health order this upcoming May.
