Imelda is an attorney licensed in the state of Oklahoma. She conducts initial consultations with new clients and oversees all legal programs offered by the organization, to include: family-based immigration; immigration assistance to unaccompanied minors and crime victims; and deportation defense before the Executive Office for Immigration Review. Before joining Catholic Charities, Ms. Maynard was an associate at a private immigration firm in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ms. Maynard holds her J.D. from University of Oklahoma School of Law.


Elizabeth is the newest member of the team. She has over 10 years of immigration paralegal experience. She assists our immigration attorney with legal cases. She is a Las Cruces Native and is fluent in English and Spanish. She previously worked as a Domestic Violence Intake Specialist for La Casa, a local organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence.

Cristina Roberts 
Accredited Representative

Yana serves as a legal assistant and helps with office operations. She is bilingual and assists clients with updates on their cases; organizes and prepares immigration packets for submission to USCIS; helps the front desk with phone calls and makes appointments. She is a Navy Veteran and holds a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.


Cristina is a naturalized U.S. Citizen who was born and raised in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. She earned her degree in Information Technology and Computer Systems in Ciudad Juarez. She has worked for Catholic Charities Legal Services in a variety of roles since 2008, and she also worked for the diocese’s previous legal services program, Family Unity, which was based in Anthony, NM. She handles residency card renewal cases, Deferred Action cases, and naturalization cases. She is a Notary Public and an Accredited Legal Representative.

Paulina Rodriguez
AmeriCorps VISTA/Resource Development

Rose joined Catholic Charities in April 2016. She has her associates of science in paralegal studies and has over 18 years of experience as a legal assistant and managing a law office. Her responsibilities include scheduling appointments, managing client mail, filing and managing legal interns and volunteers.


Paulina is a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua and raised in Oregon. She is fluent in English and Spanish and has her bachelors in Sociology and Latin American studies from Linfield College. In college, Paulina studied abroad in Quito, Ecuador where she volunteered with The Colombian Refugee Project. Paulina is our year-long AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer and has been serving with us since late April, 2016. Her responsibilities include community outreach, grant writing, fundraising and assisting with event planning.

       
   
Juan R Bonet Gardea
Legal Intern


Juan is a third-year law student at the University of California Berkeley School of Law, Boalt Hall. He is a borderland native and is fluent in English and Spanish. Juan received his bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. He serves as a full-time legal intern, assisting in legal research and representation. Juan has previously interned at Diocesan Migrant and Refugee Services in El Paso, TX; the East Bay Community Law Center; and The Bronx Defenders.
